ALGIERS-Chairman of the High Independent Authority of the Election Monitoring (HIISE) Abdelouahab Derbal affirmed Thursday in France that the establishment of the Authority was "an unprecedented experience" in Africa that might have a positive impact on governance in the continent.
"The HIISE establishment is an unprecedented experience in Africa, an experience that we seek to promote scientifically given the particular situation prevailing in Africa and the whole Arab world," Derbal told the press following his meeting with Ambassador of South African to Algiers Dennis Dlomo.
Chairman of the HIISE said he discussed this experience which had was welcomed by Dlomo, who stressed that the success of such an experience in Algeria "will have a positive impact on governance in Africa, and this is one of AU's main goals."
For his part, Dlomo hailed the efforts made by HIISE members, and expressed the hope that it would ensure smooth running of the legislative elections on 4 May.
Besides, Dlomo highlighted HIISE work in collaboration with political parties as part of preparations for these elections.
