Visit of Russia's Premier to Algeria to open "new chapter" in distinguished bilateral relations  

ALGIERS-Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel said Sunday that the visit of Russian Premier Dmitry Medvedev to Algeria would open "a new chapter in the distinguished relations linking the two countries." 

Speaking on the sidelines of the celebration of the Algerian Diplomacy Day at the International Conference Centre (CIC), Messahel stated that Medvedev's "visit to Algeria will open a new chapter in the distinguished relations between Algeria and Russia." 

In this regard, Messahel underlined both countries' willingness "to broaden the existing cooperation in politics, security and economy, notably agriculture, energy and other areas."

During his visit, the Russian Premier "will meet with state officials," said Messahel, who announced the signing of agreements to strengthen the distinguished relations linking the two countries."

As part of "permanent consultation between the two countries," both sides will discuss issues of common interest like "conflicts in the Middle East and the situation in Syria, Iraq and Yemen," stated Messahel.

Medvedev will be on a two-day visit to Algeria at the invitation of Premier Ahmed Ouyahia.
