In an interview with APS on the eve of the celebration of 51st National Day of Commune, marking the promulgation of the first Municipal Code on 18 January 1967, Sedini said that the commune would continue to make achievements under the bill on local authorities, which would strengthen the role of local authorities and decentralization, extend prerogatives of elected assemblies, and promote participatory democracy.
"The bill aims at establishing good practices in local governance and a new local taxation system as well as activating the new economic role of communes," he explained.
As regards the proposals made by all provinces through working groups, Sedini said that extensive consultations would be held with different parties concerned.
Among the different achievements made so far by the communes, he mentioned the digitization of all communes and their annexes, which helped "to accelerate and improve services and reduce bureaucracy."
"The fight against bureaucracy at municipal administrations is daily and continuous task," he added.
