ORAN- Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal inaugurated Wednesday an industrial complex of sugar refining in the business park of Tafraoui, in the sub-prefecture of Oued Tlelat.
With a refining capacity of 700,000 tonnes per year, this project, initiated by the “Groupe Berrahal,” was budgeted as part of a private investment at DZD12 billion.
The complex will ensure the production of 700,000 tonnes per year, a part of which will be exported.
In this regard, Sellal stressed the importance of this complex which is part of the country’s economic and industrial diversification.
This complex will allow improving the marketing of sugar, preventing the monopole and dropping prices, he said.
Prime Minister also underlined the possibility of exporting sugar, noting that the country’s needs are between 1.6 and 2 million tonnes per year, while the national production will reach 2.5 million tonnes with this new complex.
