Algeria, Tunisia work to revive common economic zone

SAKIET SIDI YOUCEF (Tunisia) – Algeria and Tunisia are working  to revive the project of the creation of an Algerian-Tunisian "economic free zone," Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia declared Thursday in Sakiet Sidi Youcef.

In a speech delivered in Dar Diaf at Sakiet Sidi Youcef, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the shelling of this locality by the colonial army, Ouyahia said that this "initiative is intended to reinforce the collaboration and the economic partnership between the two countries."

 He added that the two governments work to establish a workshop for the revival of this economic zone in a view to expand the cooperation fields between the two countries and open new avenues for trade in all the sectors, chiefly in the Algerian-Tunisian border regions.

The premier arrived in Sakiet Sidi Youcef, leading a delegation composed of Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel, Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning Nouredine Bedoui, Minister of Mujahedeen, Tayeb Zitouni as well as the General Secretary of the National Organization of War Veterans Said Abadou.

He has been welcomed by Tunidian Prime Minister Youcef Chahed.
