ALGIERS- The measure for increasing building lands in three southern provinces will be extended to ten provinces and will include progressively the High Plateaux region, said Sunday in Algiers Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal.
"The Government has decided, since nearly one and a half years, to facilitate the procedures of granting building plots for self-builders in three southern provinces. We will extend this measure to ten provinces, and will progressively concern the High Plateaux region," said Sellal during the presentation of the Government's Action Plan before the members of the Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament).
The Prime minister, who gave no further details about the concerned provinces, underlined the different housing programmes intended to meet in the southern region of the country.
These facilitations are to be added to the State's support for rural housing, amounting to DZD1 million for the provinces in the extreme South, against DZD 700,000 for the northern region.
Sellal said that the Government's Action Plan aims at achieving 2.2 million housing units, through different projects.
He also underlined that the construction pace has significantly improved, adding that nearly 260,000 housing units are ready to be allocated to their beneficiaries.
