ALGIERS- Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf underlined, Thursday in Algiers, the need to involve all sectors concerned and other stakeholders in the development of a national autism plan.
In reply to an oral question of a deputy of the People's National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament), Boudiaf said that a national multisectoral committee has been set up to contribute to drafting an autism programme.
He added that the committee, supervised by the Ministry of Health and comprising representatives of the sectors of education, labour, higher education and associations, is in charge of developing a strategy for the organization, coordination and the monitoring of the preventive actions, the management of autism and assistance of persons with autism.
The programme is inspired by the experience and goals of foreign countries that are pioneer in the training and early detection of autism, added Boudiaf.
He also recalled the special interest attached by President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika to persons with autism, stressing the need to find solutions to their medical and social problems.
