Hadjar represents Algeria at International Space Forum for Global Challenges in Italy

ALGIERS- Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Tahar Hadjar represents Algeria at the 1st International Space Forum for Global Challenges to be held on 23 - 24 October 2016 in Italian city of Trento, the ministry said in a communiqué.

"More than sixty ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research will take part in this meeting, intended to initiate discussions on space science contribution in research and the elaboration of a space policy and economic strategy,” said the source.

During the International Forum of Space Sciences, the participants will discuss a number of questions related to climate change and the protection of the environment, concluded the communiqué. 

Boudiaf meets in Havana with Cuban Health Minister

HAVANA - Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf met Wednesday in Havana (Cuba), with Cuban Public Health Minister Roberto Morales Ojeda.

The meeting was attended by Director General of the Pasteur Institute of Algeria and a private health operator and focused on cooperation in the field of health between the two countries.

The health sector takes the lion's share of the Algerian-Cuban cooperation as the "driving force" of bilateral cooperation with several partnership agreements, particularly in ophthalmology.

Boudiaf is accompanying Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, who is paying an official three-day visit to Cuba at the invitation of first deputy chairman of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of Cuba, Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez.

Chorfi on working visit to Tunisia Wednesday

ALGIERS- The head of the Broadcasting Regulatory Authority, Miloud Chorfi is on a working visit to Tunisia, where he will meet with the head of the Independent High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HAICA), Nouri Lajmi, said the body.

The two sides will exchange experience in the field and in audiovisual pluralism, said the source.

Boudiaf, Cuban counterpart discuss bilateral cooperation

NEW YORK-Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf and his Cuban counterpart Morales Ojeda discussed in New York the means to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the health sector.

The talks, which took place on the sidelines of the High Level meeting on AIDS, focused on preparations for Boudiaf's visit to Havana in next September.


Boudiaf holds talks with Tunisian, Argentinian counterparts

ALGIERS- Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf Held Tuesday, in Geneva, talks with his Tunisian counterpart Said Aidi and Argentinian Daniel Gollan, on the sidelines of the 68th World Health Assembly, said a ministerial communiqué.

With his Tunisian counterpart, Boudiaf broached different themes of common interest, particularly the strengthening of the cross-border cooperation and health monitoring in terms of prevention and epidemiological studies, added the source.

In the field of medicines, the two sides agreed to implement mechanisms of exchanges between the bodies in charge pharmaceutical products.

The discussions with the Argentinian Health minister “focused on the development of the bilateral cooperation in different fields, including organ transplants, maternal and infantile health and pediatric cardiac surgery.”

Boudiaf holds discussions in New York with Ugandan PM

NEW YORK- Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf has held discussions, in New York, with Uganda's Prime Minister Ruhmkorff Rugueux.

The discussions took place on the sidelines of the United Nations high-level meeting on AIDS.

The two sides examined cooperation and means to strengthen it, especially in pharmaceutical industry.

To that end, they agreed to exchange technical visits.

Boudiaf to take part in 68th World Health Assembly in Geneva

ALGIERS- Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf will take part Monday, in Geneva (Switzerland), in the 68th World Health Assembly, said Sunday the ministry in a communiqué.

During the works of this Assembly, to take place from 18 to 26 May, the minister will make a speech before the delegates of 194 countries and will hold discussions with some of his counterparts, as well as officials of United Nations agencies, said the source.


UN General Assembly on AIDS: Boudiaf to lead Algerian delegation in New Work

ALGIERS-Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf will lead the Algerian delegation at the works of the high-level meeting of the UN Assembly General on Ending AIDS to take place Wednesday and Thursday in New York, the ministry announced in a communiqué.

"This meeting will help put the world on the right path to eliminate AIDS by 2030 part of the SDGs," the source said.

According to the ministry, "this meeting is held part of achieving the 90-90-90 targets, namely 90% of all living with HIV will know their HIV status, 90% of all living with HIV will receive antiretroviral therapy and 90% of all receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression." 

Boudiaf to participate in international conference on Ebola Tuesday in Brussels

ALGIERS-Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf will participate in an international high-level conference on the Ebola virus which will be held in Brussels on Tuesday, the ministry announced.

This conference aims at "discussing the fight against this illness and coordinating future actions to eradicate it," the same source added.

More than 80 delegations attending the meeting, which will be attended by African Ministers, members of the European Union and other countries contributing to the fight against Ebola and relevant partners, such as the specialized agencies of the United Nations, IMF, World Bank, NGOs, the private sector and research institutes.

Boudiaf holds discussions in Geneva with his Iranian counterpart

GENEVA- Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf held discussions, Wednesday in Geneva, with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Hassan Ghazi Zadeh Hashemi.

The discussions took place on the sidelines of the 69th session of the World Health Assembly, the decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Boudiaf is leading the Algerian delegation to the meeting, which is taking place in the capital of Switzerland from 23 to 28 May.

Boudiaf participates in works of 43rd session of Council of Arab Health Ministers

ALGIERS-Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf, leading a large delegation, participates in the works of the 43rd Ordinary Session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health, held on 25 and 26 February in Cairo, the ministry announced Wednesday.

This sessionwill discuss "the health and humanitarian situation in Palestine, Ebola and improving maternal health in the Arab world."

Participants will also discuss the "Arab strategy to fight against AIDS and the Arab complementarity in medicine."

Boudiaf holds talks in Geneva with Tunisian, Maltese counterparts

GENEVA-Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf hold Monday in Geneva talks with his counterparts from Tunisia and Malta, on the sidelines of the 69th World Health Assembly.  

In a statement to the press following these two meetings, Boudiaf stated that Algeria seeks "to develop and strengthen" its partnership in the health sector with Tunisia and Malta.  

Regarding Tunisia, Boudiaf added that Algeria is engaged in organs transplant, stressing that all agreements between the two countries are being implemented.

"We monitor this partnership together for the benefit of our countries," he said, stating that "five children heart diseases centers will open soon in Algeria with the assistance of Algerian experts abroad and Tunisians."  

For his part, Tunisian Minister Saidi Aidi expressed his "satisfaction" about the level of exchange of knowhow between the two countries, particularly in pharmaceutical industry and training.

Besides, Maltese Health Minister Christopher Fearne "hailed" bilateral cooperation, highlighting the importance of experts exchange between the two countries. 

Algeria-Cuba Joint Committee: Health minister in Cuba from Wednesday

ALGIERS- Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf will be on a working visit to Cuba as from Wednesday, to co-chair with his Cuban counterpart Roberto Morales Ojeda the Algerian-Cuban Joint Committee, said Monday the Health Ministry in a communiqué.

During his three-day visit, Boudiaf will hold discussion with his Cuban counterpart and the deputy minister for Foreign Affairs Marcelino Medina Gonzales.

The Health minister will also visit several Cuban companies, including the Conventions and Academic Services Centre (CCSA) of Havana Medical University, the surgical clinic Hermanos Ameijeiras and the biotechnology centre, said the communiqué.

Boudiaf will also chair the signing ceremony of several agreements at the end of the Algerian-Cuban Joint Committee.


Council of Nation: Head of Health Committee receives UN Special Rapporteur on Right to Health

ALGIERS- The head of Health, Social Affairs, Labour and National Solidarity Committee at the Council of the Nation Louisa Chachoua received Thursday, at the Council’s headquarters, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health Dainius Puras with whom she broached the efforts made for the development of the health sector in Algeria.

According to the communiqué of the Council of the Nation, Chachoua broached “the efforts made by Algeria since the independence for the development of the health sector through the implementation of a strategy comprising national plans and programmes which brought concrete results in terms of improving services and the quality of care.”

Grine examines cooperation in communication sector with Japanese ambassador to Algiers

ALGIERS- The Algerian-Japanese cooperation in the communication sector was the main focus of the meeting granted Wednesday in Algiers by Minister of Communication Hamid Grine to the ambassador of Japan, Masaya Fujiwara, said the ministry in a communiqué.

The meeting focused on the relations between Algeria and Japan in the sector of communication and the appropriate ways to get them in tune of good political relations between the two countries,” added the source. 

Council of Nation partakes in 1st workshop on procreative health in Cairo

ALGIERS- Deputy Speaker of the Council of the Nation, Abdelmadjid Taghich takes part on 26 and 27 April, in Cairo (Egypt), in the first workshop on procreative health, said the Council of the nation in a communiqué Monday.

The workshop is organized by the Arab League, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Forum of Arab Parliamentarians on Population and Development, as well as the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Several themes are on this meeting’s agenda, including the population and development in the Arab region, the space dedicated to parliamentarians’ action, the priorities of procreative health policies in the Arab region as well as socio-economic, health and family aspects of procreative health, added the communiqué.

Algerian-Polish seminar on promotion of innovative technology projects on Nov. 25

ALGIERS- An Algerian-Polish seminar on the promotion of innovative technology projects will be held in Algiers on 25 November, announced Monday in Algiers the adviser to the Polish embassy, Janusz Pisz.

Guest of El-Moudjahid Forum, Pisz said that the seminar will focus on modern technology of materials as well as the most advanced technologies of information, telecommunications and mechatronics.

The Polish diplomat said that the seminar will be organized by the embassy's department of trade and investment promotion, the Advanced Technology Development Centre (CDTA) and the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) of Warsaw.

He explained that Algeria has become "among the leading trading partners in Africa," adding that many Polish companies will participate in the seminar.


International Exhibition of hospital furniture on 13 - 16 April in Oran

ORAN – The 19th International Exhibition of Hospital Furniture and Medical Equipment (SIMEM) will be held on 13 to 16 April at Mohamed Benahmed Conventions Centre of Oran (CCO), the organizers said Monday.

This event will see the presentation of equipment, products and services from over 200 companies from 23 countries, said the Exhibition director Amina Krimche in a statement to APS.

"The SIMEM is a special showcase of bio-medical and techno-medical innovations and very important event for healthcare professionals," she said.

"Valuable and indispensable allies of the practitioner, medical imaging and analysis laboratory are largely represented, with many equipments and products from Europe, the USA and Asia," she said.

The instrumentation, measurement devices, medical gases, as well as the treatment of hospital waste, will also be presented through several stands.

Innovation, development in civil engineering, theme of international meeting in Algiers

ALGIERS- Innovation and development in civil engineering and building materials are in the centre of the international meeting “INVACO 2014,” organized by the faculty of civil engineering of Houari-Boumediene University of Sciences and Technology (USTHB) in Algiers.

In addition to academics from Tunisia, the meeting will be led by scientists from other countries, including South Africa, Spain, Great Britain, France, Senegal and the United States of America.

Devoted mainly to doctoral students, the meeting will allow to enquire about experiences and skills given by international leading experts, said chairman of the seminar’s scientific committee Smail Haddadi.

"INVACO 2014" will focus on development through raising awareness on the interest of local building materials. 

Algeria to partake in international conference on fight against Ebola Tuesday, Wednesday in Malabo

ALGIERS-Algeria will participate in the international conference on Africa's fight against Ebola, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in Malabo (Equatorial Guinea) and will be represented by Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf.

"Mr Boudiaf was designated by President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, to participate Tuesday in the ministerial plenary session on financing and strengthening of health systems, and Wednesday in the plenary session of the Heads of State and Government, both held in the capital of Equatorial Guinea," said Sunday a statement from the Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform.

Organized by the Commission of the African Union (AU) in accordance with the decision of the Conference of Heads of State, the international conference on the fight against Ebola in Africa, aims to "identify measures for the implementation of robust national health systems, sufficiently staffed and funded, resistant to health threats, able to reach all persons with preventive and curative services of good quality," said the source.

The conference will be attended by Heads of State and Government, Ministers and senior officials of industry and partners to share experiences in the fight against Ebola disease and discuss ways for strengthening and consolidation of health systems to deal with this epidemic.

Participants will also discuss "the development and strengthening of the surveillance network and control of Ebola disease in conjunction with the African Centres of diseases control and prevention."

Algeria, Sweden plan to boost cooperation in media

ALGIERS- The strengthening of cooperation between Algeria and Sweden in the field of training in journalism and media was broached in discussions held Tuesday between Minister of Communication Hamid Grine and Ambassador of Sweden to Algeria Carin Wall.

The discussions focused on the process of professionalization of the Algerian press and the audiovisual landscape for its opening to the private sector, particularly through the setting up of the temporary commission of the professional journalism card and of the president of the Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting,” said the Communication Ministry in a communiqué.
