ALGIERS- Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Abdelouahab Nouri said Thursday in Algiers that the forest spaces destroyed by fires considerably dropped to 38,000 hectares in 2014 compared to 2012.
During a Lower House session devoted to oral questions, Nouri said that the Directorate General of Forests (DGF) recorded 38,000 hectares of forests destroyed by fire in 2014 against 99,000 in 2012.
This decline was made possible through the efforts of the staff of the forests general directorate in coordination with those of the civil protection which mobilized 504 mobile brigades and 369 detection centers that enabled rapid localization of risk zones.
