ILLIZI-Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal inspected on Thursday in Illizi (1252 km south of Algiers) the site to host the project of a water demineralization plant able to demineralize 10,000 m3 per day and meant to provide Illizi province with drinking water.
Budgeted at DZD 949 million, the project, which will be delivered in the second quarter of 2015, is expected to improve the quality of drinking water in the city of Illizi through removing the iron it contains.
Also, the plant comprises an oxygenation tower, a settling tank, a pumping station, a filter and a tank. It includes the creation of a network connection and an administrative block, according to the technical specifications of the project.
Further explanation on the project were given to the Prime Minister who stressed on meeting deadlines and called for improving the quality of drinking water and removing the reddish color.
The field of water resources in Illizi is endowed with 87 wells for drinking water (AEP), 54 tanks with a total storage capacity of 20,640 m3 and an AEP network of more than 474 km covering 97 % of the local population.
