TEBESSA-Participants in the 2nd regional seminar of the Algerian-Tunisian work group on roads and structures and their maintenance stressed Monday in Tebessa the importance of exchanging technical experiences and pursuing the implementation of the agreement on the development of the common border strip.
This two-day seminar aims to strengthen bilateral relations and exchange experiences in the maintenance, said the President of the Algerian delegation Mohamed Mouhiedine, Director General of Roads at the Public Works and Transport Ministry, and his Tunisian counterpart Hedi Merzougui, Director General at the Ministry of Equipment, Housing and National Planning.
The meeting was attended by the directors of public works of the provinces of El Tarf, Souk Ahras, Tebessa and El Oued. It focused on the state of roads liking two counties via border posts and some structures including dams, bridges and tunnels.
The recommendations adopted during meeting advocate studies on the causes of deterioration of both countries' basic infrastructures and further interest in the maintenance of the border road network to boost and secure bilateral trade exchanges.
Both parties announced the study on the East-West highway connection to the Tunisian highway had been completed and the meeting point would be the border post of Bouchebka in the province of Tebessa.
