ORAN-Premier Abdelmalek Sellal on Wednesday laid the first stone of the project to build 6,000 AADL housing units in Misserghine, in the province of Oran.
This quota is part of a total of 10,000 hire-purchase housing units to be implemented on side as part of a program of 13,000 housing units from which the capital of the West has benefited.
Stretching over an area of 51 hectares, this project, contracted by the National Agency for the Improvement and Development of Housing (AADL, will contribute to making up housing deficit, creating jobs, reviving the sector and improving citizens’ life conditions.
Nearly 1,000 jobs will be created part of the implementation of this project that will be delivered “in late 2019.”
As regards the companies in charge of implementing this project, two have been selected, namely the national company El Bayrak Ltd (3,000 housing units) and the Chinese CRCEG (3,000 housing units). The total coast of the project amounts to DZD 19.3 billion.
After listening to a presentation on this project, the Premier advocated the implementation of such projects in the form of smart cities so that they meet global standards.
“A smart city is not only made up of smart districts but also services and facilities that must meet new standards and practices,” he stated.
ORAN- An agreement for the restoration of the Bey Palace and the Pacha Mosque, two sites dating back to the ottoman era was signed Thursday, in Oran (432-km west of Algiers), between the Directorate of Town Planning and Construction, and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
Turkish group under Algerian law, Tosyali Iron and Steel, proposed to fund the restoration of these two sites with the support of TIKA. The start-up procedures of operations will be launched shortly said the Wali (Governor) of Oran Abdelghani Zaalane who chaired the agreement’s signing ceremony in the presence of the ambassador of Turkey to Algeria Mehmet Poroy.
After a wait of many decades, the restoration of these two sites of the district of El Houari will enter its concrete phase, he said, hailing the initiative of Tosyali Group, who was interested in these two monuments, among the rare Ottoman vestiges of Oran.
Without speaking about the due date of the restoration works, the Wali said that they will certainly be ready to be integrated into Oran’s sightseeing tours, scheduled for the Mediterranean games which will be hosted by the province in 2021.
ORAN (Algeria)- The Alsat-users workshop scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, at the Dir El Djir Satellite Development Centre, in Eastern Oran, will be an opportunity to evaluate the use of images from Algerian satellites, launched and put in earth orbit in September 2016.
In fact, three Algerian satellites (Alsat-1B, Alsat-2B and Alsat-1N) were successfully put in earth orbit on 26 September by Indian launcher PSLV C35 from Sriharikota site at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in South East India.
The two satellites, Alsat-2B and Alsat-1B entered the operational exploitation phase through the acquisition of high-resolution images (2.5m) and medium resolution (12m).
The Oran meeting will be dedicated to Alsat-1B images, taken at an altitude of 670 kilometers, in multispectral mode (visible and near infrared), and panchromatic.
The use of Alsat-1B images will, among other things, meet the goals relating to the protection of environment and various natural ecosystems, the observations of desertification phenomena and their cartographies, to land use mapping, land and coastal development and the prevention and management of natural risks, said the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL)
As for Alsat-2B, it represents the second high-resolution earth observation satellite, placed in an orbit located at 670-km of altitude and thus, following Alsat-2A, in orbit since July 2010.
The use of Alsat-2B images at 2.5m in panchromatic mode and in enhanced-color mode will make it possible to invest in important thematic and economic areas such as urban and agricultural development of territories and the littoral, cartography and the follow-up of infrastructures and engineering structures, the establishment and update of cadastre and Saharan steppe, and the prevention and management of natural risks (floods, forest fires, etc).
The launch in orbit of these satellites, developed and tested by Algerian engineers at the Oran Satellite development Centre (CDS) is part of the implementation of the National Space Programme by 2020 adopted by the government, said the ASAL.

ORAN- A total of 150 exhibitors were present at the 8th International Tourism and Travel Fair “SIAHA 2017” which opened Thursday at the Mohamed Benahmed Convention Centre in Oran ( 432-km west of Algiers), by the minister of National Planning, Tourism and Craft Industry Abdelwahab Nouri.

ORAN (Algeria)-More than 100,000 people visited the 16th Oran Auto Show (AutoWest 2016) held during ten days at the Mohamed Benahmed Convention Centre said organizers Saturday, at the closing of this economic event.
“Like the previous edition, the numbers exceeded the threshold of 100,000 visitors, confirming the interest given to this regional event which was dedicated this year, to the national automobile production,” said the Show’s director Abdelkader Rezzoug.
“About thirty companies took part in this edition, mainly dedicated to national production represented by various brands assembles in Algeria,” he recalled.
This edition also showed a growing interest for motorcycles manufactured in Algeria, whose sales are considered important by the organizer, who explains this trend by “travel facilities in the city that this this mean of transport offers, in addition to the economic advantage.”

ORAN-The 2nd edition of the international professional exhibition of industrial safety and environmental "Exposafety" will be held from 17 to 20 March in Oran Convention Centre (OCC), organizers announced Saturday.
This event will bring together decision makers from the sector of industrial and environmental safety, and national and international suppliers in this field, manager of the organizing company "Smart event" Nadjiba Grine said.
Exhibitors will be divided into two categories: the first involves the industrial safety, prevention and protection against malicious acts and fire, as well as the safety of people, property and information.

ORAN (Algeria)- President of the Republic of Benin Thomas Boni Yayi headed, Wednesday, for Oran (432-km west of Algiers) as part of his three-day State visit to Algeria, at the invitation of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

ORAN (Algeria)- A project to create marine brigades of the National Gendarmerie along the west coast is underway, announced Wednesday in Oran the Commander of the second regional Gendarmerie unit.
This project is part of the strengthening of security coverage by the National Gendarmerie to adapt to the security requirements and the evolution of criminality and organized crime, underlined General Tahar Othmani in a press conference devoted to the presentation of the annual report of the National Gendarmerie in the west of the country.
The project of reinforcing the National Gendarmerie’s deployment throughout the territory, with marine brigades, occurs in a context marked by the upsurge of drug trafficking attempts, using also marine routes, added the official.
The traffickers innovate through the use of sea routes to replace the traditional drug path, notably through the western land border strip where the noose is tightening, said General Othmani.
ORAN - A budget of DZD1.6 billion was allocated by the State for the rehabilitation of 11 buildings in Sidi El Houari old district, six public squares, and pedestrian crossings in the same neighborhood, the Wali of Oran said Thursday during the Tribune paper's forum for citizens.
He said that the "long awaited" decree, involving the Ministries of Interior and Local Government and Culture for the classification of the neighborhood as protected urban sector is not yet signed.
"We are in the phase of choosing the company of renovation. The funds are available. The specifications were withdrawn and calls for tenders launched, " he added.
ORAN-Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal laid Monday during his working visit to Oran, the foundation stone for the construction of a connector road between the port of Oran and East-West highway.
Sellal urged the project’s managers to keep to completion deadline.
The implementation of this new road to connect the port of Oran to the motorway junction (26 km), through the first bypass, also includes viaducts and tunnels.
Once completed, it will create a second access to the port of Oran and mitigate, to a large extent, the pressure recorded on the existing network in the vicinity of the port, characterized in particular by HGV traffic.
Besides, the project is mainly meant to create an effective and alternative road to the Ravin Blanc road and the expressway which will reach, in 2020, 200% of highway saturation, technical data stated.
This operation is part of a larger program launched by the ministry of Public Works, meant to build penetrating highways, following the National Planning Scheme (SNAT) in order to relieve traffic congestion in major urban centers.
ORAN (Algeria)- Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal has inaugurated Monday in Bethioua, a new production plant of Liquefied Natural Gas (Train LNG 3), in the industrial zone of petrochemistry of Arzew (Oran).
Alternate to the complex (GL4/Z called "La Camel", the world’s first LNG plant closed in 2010 after 46 years of activity, this new industrial plant, built on land base of 54 hectares should contribute to the development of the capacity of the national production of the natural liquefied gas.
This plant has a production capacity of 4.7 million metric tonnes of LNG, 58,000 tonnes of butane, 275,000 tonnes of propane gas, 300,000 tonnes of ethane, 47,000 tonnes of de gasoline and 115.5 normal cubic meters (Nm3) of helium-enriched gas.
On the social plan, this investment, funded by Sonatrach for $4 billion, i.e. DZD304 billion plans the creation of 645 direct jobs and 250 indirect ones.
The Prime Minister’s visit to Oran coincided with the loading of a LNG carrier with a capacity of 125,000 tonnes.
ORAN (Algeria)- Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal on Monday pays a working visit to Oran, (432 km west of Algiers) where he will inaugurate, commission and launch several projects initiated as part of the programme of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
Accompanied by an important ministerial delegation, Sellal should inaugurate the Renault car manufacturing plant in Oued Tlelat.
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by a French official delegation.
Later, the Premier will go to Merset el Hadjadj, east of Oran, where he will inaugurate the huge water desalination plant of El Mactaa. This facility, one of the world’s largest plants using the reverse osmosis process has a daily production capacity of 500,000 m3.
The water produced will meet the needs of Oran province and also the needs of the neighboring provinces like Mascara, Tiaret, Mostaganem and Relizane.
In the industrial zone of Arzew, Abdelmalek Sellal will inaugurate and commission two complexes for the production of ammonia and urea. The first complex comes under an Algerian-Omanian joint venture, Al-Djazaïria al-Omania Lil Asmida (AOA) while the second one is part of the company Sorfert, a project cofounded by Sonatrach and Egyptian group Orascom.
Sellal will also inaugurate and bring into service the complex for Liquefied Natural Gas, GNL3Z, a facility which replaces the world’s first LNG complex, « La Camel» commissioned in 1964 and closed in 2010, with the stoppage of the production.
The laying down of the first stone of the Police Academy of Gdyel and that of the project of the construction of link of the Oran port -highway, the visit of a hotel project and the inauguration of Business Center “les falaises” are also included in the programme of the premier’s visit.
ORAN (Algeria)- Development plans for 16 beaches in Oran (432-km west of Algiers) has been launched recently in a bid to develop seaside tourism, the provincial Tourism and Craft Industry department said Sunday.
The plans concern the beaches of the western cliff road "Cap Falcon," "Bouiseville," "El Mordjane" and "Bomo plage, according to the interim head of Tourism Department, Belabbes Kayem Benamar.
The development plans also include the eastern side like "Cap Carbon," in the coastal commune of Arzew, "Marina" of Mers El Hadjadj and "El Mectaa.
A financial budget of DZD16 million is devoted to the operation.
The plans have been worked out ahead of the next summer season, as the beach sections to be granted in 2015 will be clearly determined, the Tourism official told APS.
Eighteen out of 34 authorized beaches have already benefitted from development plans, Belabbes said.
Nine concessions only have been granted for a period of five years during the summer season 2014, the rest for a one-year period.
NANJING (China)- The chairman of the Algerian Olympic and Sports Committee (COA), Mustapha Berraf, disclosed Thursday in Nanjing, China, that ten Mediterranean nations support the application of Oran (432-km west of Algiers) to host the Mediterranean Games 2021.
"Ten countries so far have expressed support to the holding of the Mediterranean Games 2014 in the city of Oran, namely Andorra, Egypt, Spain, France, Monaco, Serbia, Slovenia, Libya, Macedonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, the head of the Olympic committee told APS.
The secretary general of the COA, Salah Bouchiha, has officially submitted Oran's application to the office of the secretary general of the Athens-based International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG).
"We will know the hosting city of the 2021 games during the next session of the du ICMG, early 2015, in the Greek capital," Berraf said.
Ahead of the Mediterranean event, major sports projects have been launched in Oran, including an Olympic swimming pool, a tennis court and a football stadium.
According to the Sports minister, works for the new stadium of Bir El-Djir, Oran, have made a noticeable progress and will be delivered in 20145 as planned.
ORAN (Algeria)- The fourth Asia-Africa Forum on sustainable energy opened Tuesday at the auditorium of Mohamed Boudiaf University of Science and Technology in Oran (432-km west of Algiers), with the participation of about one hundred Algerian and foreign experts.
The two-day meeting will "emphasize the technological progress in energy and sustainable development," said the organizers of the event held under the aegis of the ministry of the Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The forum's president, Amine Boudghene Stambouli, said the participants come from about ten countries, however, most participants are from Algerian and Japanese researchers who met for the sixth International Workshop on "Sahara Solar Breeder" programme (SSB), intended for development of solar technologies.
The two events, Asia-Africa Forum and SSB Workshop, are part of a tradition established with the Japanese partner that a meeting be held every year alternately in Algeria and Japan, Stambouli added.
ALGIERS- An evening to pay homage to badwi song was organized Saturday at Ibn Zaydoun movie theatre, in Algiers, as part of tributes initiated by the ministry of culture, in collaboration with the National Office of Copyright and Similar Rights.
The evening, held in recognition of the contribution of Oran’s badwi song to the promotion of Algerian musical heritage, was an opportunity to shed light on badwi song in the country’s west, as many musical pieces were performed in an atmosphere rich in sounds and colours, in the presence of a large audience.
A documentary about Sahrawi badwi song and highlighting known artists performing such a musical genre, like Cheikh Abdelkader Hadadji, Cheikh Madanu, Cheikh Hamada and Cheikh Khaldi was projected at the event.
The tribute continued with songs of the badwi heritage by Bouzid El Hadj, Houria Hadjaj, Abdelkader Khaldi and Mohamed Racine.
Some of the beautiful Oran badwi songs performed by five artists, including Cheikh Djilali Ain Tadles, Abdelkader Bouras and Abdelkader Khaldi, have been published on CDs.
ORAN (Algeria) – The 13th Fitness & Beauty International Trade Show "Jouvençal 2014", attended by forty national exhibitors and foreign companies opened Thursday in Oran.
Organized for the first time in Oran, the Show is marked by the participation of four foreign countries; Tunisia, Poland, Turkey and France plus 18 foreign firms represented by the Algerian companies.
The official opening ceremony took place in the presence of local officials of Oran province.
