BOUMERDES (Algeria)- Shipbuilding and fishing vessel repairing at the port of Zemmouri El Bahri, Boumerdes (50-km east of Algiers), experienced a real boom over the past few years as it has managed to meet both local and national demand and is exporting abroad following an agreement signed with Mauritania recently.
ALGIERS- Two (2) smugglers were arrested in Bordj Badji Mokhtar by a detachment of the National People's Army (ANP) while more than 66 kg of cannabis resin were seized in Oran and Tlemcen, said Sunday the Ministry of Defence (MDN) in a news release.
ALGIERS- Snowfalls have blocked several trunk roads in different provinces notably Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, Batna and Bejaia, said the National Gendarmerie.

3.7-magnitude quake hits Bejaia

ALGIERS- An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale was recorded Friday afternoon, at 4:34 p.m. in the province of Bejaia (263-km east of Algiers) said the national Centre for Research in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics (CRAAG) in a statement.
ALGIERS- Several roads have been cut off to traffic in eight central and eastern provinces of the country following the heavy snowfall in these regions over the past 48 hours, said Wednesday the Civil Protection.
ALGIERS-Detachments of the People’s National Army (ANP) on Tuesday intervened in many regions like Sidi Bel Abbes and Tlemcen, to reopen roads cut off by snow and give assistance to the population, announced the National Defence Ministry in a statement.

Snow covers desert regions, south of Naama

NAAMA – Snow has fallen and covered for a short period of time the sand dunes of the Sidi Boudjemâa Tourist Complex in Ain Sefra commune, south of the province of Naama.
ALGIERS- Several communes of in the provinces of Tizi Ouzou and Bouira (respectively 100 km and 105 km east of Algiers) have been cut off by road due to the bad weather having affected parts of the country over the past days, said Tuesday, officials at the Civil Protection, adding that no human loss, nor material damages have been reported.
