ALGIERS- Five people were killed and 23 others injured in nine road accidents over the past 48 hours across the national territory, the Civil Protection services said Saturday.
The heaviest toll was recorded in Sidi Bel Abbes with two people killed following a collision between a light vehicle and a semi-trailer in the commune of Sidi Ali Boussidi, added the same source.
The Civil Protection also intervened to provide first-aid care to nine people who inhaled carbon monoxide from heating home appliances in Bordj Bou Arreridj.
Besides, four people died asphyxiated by carbon monoxide in Chlef, Souk Ahras and Batna.
Seven urban and various fires were extinguished Algiers, Biskra, Médéa and Tizi Ouzou.
