ALGIERS-President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika has decided to grant a quota of 2000 hajj (pilgrimage) passports to citizens aged over 70 and having participated in more than ten unsuccessful hajj draws, announced the Ministry of Interior, Local Assemblies and National Planning in a communiqué.

ALGIERS- Three people lost their lives and seven others were injured in three road accidents across the country over the past 24 hours, said the Civil Protection in a report on Wednesday.
ALGIERS- The customs services seized a quantity of drugs estimated at DZD666.03 million, made up of essentially cannabis resin, cocaine and psychotropic pills, the General Directorate of Customs (DGD) told APS on Tuesday.
ALGIERS- Nineteen people have been killed and 950 others injured in several road accidents over the period between January 28 and February 3 across the country, the Civil Protection Department has reported.

Illiteracy rate in Algeria down to 10%

BOUIRA- The overall illiteracy rate in Algeria has significantly dropped over the past years to hit 10% in 2017, while it was 42% before 2006, said Monday in Bouira the head of the Algerian literacy association "Iqraa," Aicha Mebarki.
ALGIERS- Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Status Ghania Eddalia stressed the need to provide all the necessary means which are likely to improve the living conditions for the persons with special needs, said Sunday the ministry in a release.
