ORAN (Algeria)- Team Cevital’s Algerian cyclist Hichem Chaabane won Thursday, in Oran, the fifth and last leg of the 2014 Cycling Tour of Algeria, while the yellow jersey went to Eritrean Mekseb Debesay.
Chaabane clocked 2:43:20, ahead of Eritrean Mekseb Debesay and Emirati Mohamed Youssef Mir (from “Al-Nasr Club Dubai” team), both of whom clocked 2:43:38.
On this last leg, a 106-kilometre section (Oran-Tafraoui-Oran), Debesay managed to keep, with no difficulties, the yellow jersey he also won the day before on Santa Cruz summit.
Eritrean national team tops the overall ranking, before its Moroccan counterpart, while the “Singapore Continental Cycling” team takes the third place.
Friday will be dedicated to the Oran Grand Prix, third event of the 2014 Grand Tour of Algeria.
