CAIRO (Egypt)- The Algerian boxing team (juniors) snatched five medals (2 gold, 3 silver) at the end of the finals of the Arab Junior Championship organized from 5 to 8 March at the Al Maadi Olympic Complex in Cairo (Egypt).
The two gold medals were won by Aidel Mazigh (56 kg) who beat Egyptian Merouane Mamdouh Medbouli and his teammate Djalal Bouchkouk (75 Kg), who won against Egyptian Moayed Eddine Walid.
The two other Algerian boxers in the finals of this Arab championship who snatched the silver medals are Aït-Beka Salim (49 Kg), who lost in the final against Yemeni boxer Chouail Ghanem while his compatriot Aghiles Chebah (52 Kg) was defeated by Egyptian Mostapha Mohamed Fahmi.
For his part, Mounir Benaamane (64 kg) lost his duel against Tunisian Haythem Beraki.
The Algerian team took part in this championship with eight boxers, five of which qualified for the finals.
In addition to Algeria and Egypt (host country), eleven countries took part in this Arab Championship: United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Yemen, Libya, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Tunisia and Morocco.
