IPC/11th Tunis International Meeting: Algeria wins 19 medals, including 6 gold in Tunis

 ALGIERS- The Algerian athletes have won 19 medals (6 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze medals), in the 11th Tunis International Meeting, Africa's only World Para Athletics Grand Prix of the year, said the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

Tunisia ranked first in this competition with 72 medals, including 34 gold medals, reported Monday the IPC official website.

The Algerian gold medals have been won by Nasser Djamil  in 100m and 200m events (T11-T12 and t T20, twinned classes), Boukhalfa Allel (GSP),  in 100m (T35/36), Medjahed Bouhafs in 100m (T13/38/44), Walid Rezouani in Club (F51) and Bakhta Benallou in shot put (F12/36/37/44).

While their compatriots Abdelkrim Krai (1500m/T13/38/46), Souheila Hariki  (weight /F34), Bachir Mourad (shot put and javelin throwing /F55), Walid Rezouani  (discus /F51/52/53), and Bentria Firas long jump/T11/37/38/45) stanched silver.

The bronze medals were won by Boukhalfa (200m), Bentria  (100m), Abdelkrim Krai (800m), Hamza Kais (shot put and discus /F53/54),  Nacer-Eddine Karfas (5000m/T12/13) and Bouzit Brahim Khalil (shot put/F41). 

In the overall ranking, Algeria ranked fifth, behind Tunisia, Morocco (8 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze), Kuwait (7, 5, 3) and Saudi Arabia (6, 9, 2).
