AU extraordinary summit kicks off in Kigali

KIGALI- The African Union extraordinary summit, devoted to the official launch of the African Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA), kicked off Wednesday in Kigali with the participation of about thirty heads of State and Government, including Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia, representing President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
 CAIRO- The Arab League’s general secretary Ahmed Aboul Gheit announced Tuesday in Cairo that the annual summit of the Arab Heads of State would be held on 15 April in the Saudi capital Riyadh.

BIR LAHLOU (Saharawi Liberated Territories)- The president of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), general secretary of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, called Thursday the United Nations to cancel the holding of Crans Montana Forum in the occupied Western Sahara town of Dakhla, dubbing the move a "provocation" that would ndermine the efforts of UN personal envoy, Horst Kohler, for the settlement of Western Sahara conflict.
ALGIERS- The Italian Foreign Ministry has approved the granting of one million euro humanitarian aid to the UN World Food Programme (PAM) and the UN Funds for Children (UNICEF), said Italian embassy to Algiers, adding that the aid will be destined to support the emergency actions, in terms of nutrition, health and education for the Sahrawi refugees.
PARIS - Several Sahrawi political prisoners are on hunger strike in Moroccan prisons to denounce their detention conditions, and to claim and defend the right to self-determination, a source close to the Sahrawis in Paris said Thursday.
MADRID- Spanish deputies of the parliamentarian intergroup of support and friendship with Western Sahara called on their government to comply with the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) which stipulates that the fisheries agreement between EU and Morocco is not applicable to the territories of Western Sahara and its waters.
