XIAMEN (China)- The leaders of BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) expressed, during their Summit in China's Xiamen, their support to Africa's efforts for the resolution of conflicts in the continent, including in Western Sahara.
ALGIERS- Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel said that Morocco’s assaults against the delegations of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) at the African Union are always "doomed to fail," welcoming the position of the Pan-African Organization which showed "unity and cohesion.”
ALGIERS- President of the Algerian Red Crescent (CRA) Saida Benhabilès has denounced on Sunday the global decision of reducing the humanitarian aids to the Sahrawi people, calling on the UN and the international humanitarian organizations to put pressure on donors so to cancel such an "irresponsible" decision.
ALGIERS- Saharawi human rights activist Aminatou Haidar called Wednesday, in Algiers, for protection of Western Sahara people and speeding up the organisation of a self-determination referendum, to find a definitive solution to the Saharawi conflict.
ALGIERS- Saharawi people wish that the efforts of UN secretary general Antonio Guterres for the settlement of Western Sahara issue be along the same lines as those of his predecessor, Ban Ki-moon, who tried to revive the self-determination process, Saharawi journalist Hamma Mehdi said.
ALGIERS-Sahrawi human rights activist Aminatou Haidar advocated on Saturday in Algiers the setting up of a United Nations mechanism to monitor the violations of Sahrawi's human rights by Morocco, especially as the Minurso "is powerless in the face of these violations."
MAPUTO (Mozambique)- African Union (AU) demanded from Morocco and all partners to respect the African organization as a unified block at the regional and international levels, asking the Moroccan delegation attending the ministerial meeting of the partnership summit between the African Union and Japan to sit beside Western Sahara to show respect to the unity of AU institutions and agencies.
MAPUTO (Mozambique)-The Moroccan diplomacy has failed in its attempts to exclude the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) from the ministerial meetings of the partnership summit between the African Union (AU) and Japan, held in Maputo (Mozambique).
BOUMERDES-President of the Sahrawi Republic Brahim Ghali called on Tuesday in Boumerdes for the "immediate" implementation of the recent Security Council decision on the resumption of negotiations between the Polisario Front and Morocco, stressing his willingness to cooperate with the new Secretary-General's Personal Envoy Horst Kohler.
PRETORIA-The Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) have adopted a recommendation to hold a Conference of solidarity with the Sahrawi people and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), whose results will be submitted to the African Union Commission in solidarity with the Sahrawi cause.
